Like most villas in Vapolicella, House Fraccaroli had his own wine cellar for winemaking purposes located at the basement where Castrum Wine Bar & Bistro is currently operating. Closer to our time, in 1980, Paolo Borghetti, the father of Giampiero Borghetti, build a new larger and fashionable wine cellar within the property.
Paolo Borghetti was one of the avant-garde viticulturists and wine producers of that period. He was a winemaking pioneer in the Valpolicella area as he commissioned his own bottling line within his wine cellar; furthermore, in the 80´s, he created two trademarks for his wine: Le 4 Vigne and I Tre Santi. Azienda Agricola Borghetti has successfully attended a number of manifestations of Vinitaly, an international trade fair in the 80´s. In 1987, Paolo Borghetti won the first place at, at the competition, The Best Amarone of the 5 classical communities of Valpolicella, with his wine: Recioto di Valpolicella – Amarone Classico.
Giampiero Borghetti, son of Paolo Borghetti and of Lisette Vicentini and direct successor of Fraccaroli family, has fond memories with his grandmother, nonna Argene Fraccaroli, who, with an unforgettable warm smile had kindly guided his steps to the age of adolescence.
Although the Giampiero Borghetti wine cellar produces small quantities of wine, it is mainly focused on the quality of products, the reception of guests, promoting, at the same time, both the territory and the own family history and using the owner’s own residence which had been turned into a genuine touristic facility: the CASTRUM RELAIS. The BORGHETTI GIAMPIERO and CASTRUM wine collections are offered to guests and clients of the structure Relais or Winebar for tasting and consumption inside the premises, as well as to be tasted and enjoyed outside the premises. We may also organize wine tasting events directly in the Giampiero Borghetti wine cellar.
The Giampiero Borghetti wine cellar dedicates an entire collection of 5 Valpolicella, DOC wines to its predecessor, the sculptor Innocenzo Fraccaroli and his works of immeasurable value: the CASTRUM collection.
This premium line has chosen the 5 most beautiful sculptures made by Innocenzo Fraccaroli, as protagonist of the collection labelling and of the chosen style.
